How permanent is the unlock?

Hi. I successfully carrier unlocked my s8.
It required me to flash the modem.

My question is:
What parts of my software can I change without removing the network unlock?
For example:
Can I flash a new OS?
Can I flash a new modem?
Can I do a full factory reset?
etc..

for anyone wondering the same, i flashed every entry in odin and the unlock still works
