S9 locked to UK Vodafone

Have a S9 locked to Vodafone & found Samtool. I dont know much about unlocking but is this straightforward as youtube shows? I asked on tech chat but got lost when guy started talking about downgrading & bit numbers!
Just wanna know should I buy these "credits" & give it a shot?

No, its a waste of money and time if you don't know what you are doing. There are other unlocking software on the market such as octopus suite etc.
